one day a woman wrote on her blog
about other women who whine like a dogand the men came running from the bog
happy that someone sees them not as a hogalas it was just that one day,
28 January 2008
(a day soon vanished into the fog)and the men retreated back into the bog
like they just inhaled a sh*t-load of smog.Comment Posted By clumsy On 03.02.2008 @ 22:35

not so far off, i guess. though i can’t quite buy that no one’s to blame. people have labeled it ghesmat (qesmeh in Ar., i think), fate, and all things holy, yet a lot of it is man’s doing and his shortcomings! as far as songs go, there are many that speak to me. one that cuts deep is floyd’s “and i run and i run to catch up with the sun, but it’s sinking…”

i always thought i wanted a successful, independent, career-oriented woman for my partner. good looks and manners and a similar mind-set didn’t hurt either. then i met a women who had no hair, no eyelashes, and no breasts. that’s when i learned that a person is more than the sum of their (body) parts. marriage is just a contract… but love, partner, soulmate… that can’t be summed up in three or three hundred traits. her name was Sarah (the H was very important!) and in three weeks i will lose her all over again for the eighth time.

everything has shifted. you’re not even an adult anymore until after 12 (count them, t-w-e-l-v-e) years of schooling…. and that’s just prep work for another 4 years of college. has the world become so complicated that we need that much schooling? yes! unfortunately. and once out of school/college/grad school/building a career… we begin to learn about the facts of life, and wonder where the heck the last 30 years went!!

though blind faith can be helpful, it can also be extremely dangerous! witness a lot of the evil of the world. yes the end may be all right, but it seems to me we live in the middle! although people of faith seem to live FOR the end, and not IN the moment. perhaps that’s how their faith gets them through the rough middle part we call life. just thinking out-loud. thanks for your response.

oh i beg you, for the sanity of woman-kind, and their better halves, do NOT read glamour, cosmo, etc and their dating/relationship advise. the west is all ready too scatter-brained from these columns… i see it everyday in people lost and confused about relationships. just today someone at work was scheming evil treats for her ex. i saw their relationship fall apart and how she practically sabotaged it, while everyone at the office was all too happy to lend a helping (stabbing) hand. i tried to make it none-of-my-business, but it goes around the office and can’t be ignored. i chastise myself for not speaking up before it was too late. maybe it couldn’t be saved, but with how she was going and getting NO real help from anyone, except sympathetic agreeing ears, it was sure to fail. Now months have passed and she is fuming because they passed on the street and he ignored her! Sorry for the long post — but so many people get lost in the glamour of a glossy magazine that dishes not a iota of sensible advise. pick up a book instead. (and not one of those dummy’s guides to…)
