Don’t Drive in Colorado!

You know how they say that you shouldn’t speed towards the end of the month because Police try to meet their quota then? Well, in Colorado, I would suggest you don’t drive at all!

Police in Colorado have issued a ‘16 tickets per shift‘ quota! That’s 2 tickets per hour. And, for those officers who don’t meet the quota, they are questioned to find out why they have been ’slacking’.

eshda3wa: exactly! how can you put a quota on something like this? Itha yaboon, they can check the average for all officers willee emgaser talk to him. Bs to put a minimum 2 per hour?

tito84: exactly.. that means if you’re barely going over the speed limit o that officer who sees you hasn’t fulfilled his quota, you’ll get fined!

Of course, in some areas like Saudi and Egypt, I think the quota should be something like 20 per hour! :)

I’m only curious as to what the figure for average violations per month is. If it is high up, then probably 16 tickets isn’t too much :p

N: Yes, that was the point i was trying to make in my previous comment to eshda3wa. It should be based on location and the daily average overall. Not a general quota set for all locations. But a place like Colorado, I doubt would be high in violations! Then again, I could be wrong :)

Phew.. glad I don’t live there.. but seriously speaking.. I live between Canada and Bahrain.. and in Canada people are more respective when they drive. No one cuts through traffic, everyone uses the signals, people are courteous, they abide to the law. You drive for hours there without being bothered or checking your blood pressure.. but come to Bahrain and a drive to a place around the corner could land you in hospital. I seriously think we should do something - anything - to teach people some manners on the roads!

I lived in colorado for 3 years… and you are right, the officers over there are pure pigs! I once got 3 tickets in one damn day! one for going 6 miles over the speed limit, one for stopping at the stop sign for less than 3 seconds (i probably did 2), and once for going 20 miles over the speed limit (which i deserved)… but come one over $300 in fines in one day just so they make a living?

sillybahrainigirl: same thing w/the US. I lived there for years wil netham mashee. bs in this part of the world, unfortunately there are always those who have ‘connections’ and can get away without getting tickets. so those who end up suffering are the average joes/janes!

Weld El-ma6aba: wow! see, this is exactly what i feared when i read this story. sorry to hear that. must’ve sucked!! i guess they hope that after u get these tickets, you’ll just go up to the mountains, smell that fresh air and forget about it! :)

Back when I was a student in the US, I used to drive a red sport car. Needless to say it was a police magnet. Damn I got way too many tickets including my license suspended once.
