To Sms, or Not to Sms

Following the whole ‘friendships’ and ‘unintentionally hurting others’ theme, I am here to admit that I messed up.I’ve become so accustomed to technology that I’ve become completely reliant on sms, email, and chat as a means to stay in touch with people. Never really realized that some people, especially if they’re close, don’t consider that as an acceptable method! They expect an occasional phone call to ask about their health and how life is treating them.

By the time I’m done with work, done with family obligations, I am so wiped that, most of the time, I don’t have it in me to hold a proper conversation. I need some peace and quiet. So friends whom I love, I end up using technology to let them know that I’m thinking of them or asking about them. I never really realized that this is sending them the wrong message until today.

So, if you’re one of my friends whom I haven’t called recently, please know that it is NOT because I care any less for you, don’t think of you, or don’t consider you important. I promise to put in more of an effort, if you promise to kick my butt and let me know when I’ve become distant again.

Friends help us through the roughest of times. Nothing is worth losing them over.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

Test of Time

I don’t know about you, but I feel time is FLYING by! Just yesterday I was thinking ‘man, this week flew by…! it’s the weekend already.’ Only thing is, it wasn’t yesterday that I thought this. It was last week!!! I hadn’t even noticed that this week has ended and it was the weekend again. An interesting thing happened to me this week, though. An old friend from school somehow located me over the net. She sent me a message, not sure whether it was me or not. I was completely shocked and excited!!! We used to be REALLY close, back in 1989. She left in 1990 and we completely lost touch shortly thereafter. Now, 16 years later, she has managed tracked me down!

It’s been amazing catching up with her and finding out what she’s been up to. The one thing that I loved is that we talked as if we were just together yesterday! It didn’t seem like our friendship had endured a 16 year drought.

I guess true friends are never separated by time, nor geography. So, while the last couple weeks have flown past me in a blink of an eye, I was able to regain a friend I lost 16 years ago! I guess that makes us even.

Intentions

“I didn’t mean it! How many times do I need to tell you, it wasn’t intentional.. I didn’t mean to hurt you!”“But you did.. whether you meant to or not, fact remains that the damage has been done!!”

“I know.. but you know me.. you should know my intentions were good!”

“Intentions don’t count when your actions contradict them so loudly! Your intentions should have stopped you from hurting me.”

Speechless!

There’s a scene I rarely see in public, but when I do, it leaves me speechless. It’s the most beautiful, sexy, pure, amazing scene. No matter where I am or who I’m with, when I see this, my eyes lock on it, my mind drifts, and I just sit back and enjoy it.What am I talking about?

A father taking his son out for a ‘boys day out’, or a father with his daughter out on a ‘date’. I think it’s the nicest thing in the world to see.. Seeing the way the father looks at his offspring with such love and protection.. seeing the reciprocated look from the son/daughter towards their father.. a look of pure awe and admiration. He’s their hero!

Simply, utterly, 100% BEAUTIFUL!

Real Woman!

** Congratulations Barcelona! **

——–

I found the below entertaining, so I thought I’d share with you:

Good Housekeeping Way #1
Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of a sugar cone to prevent ice cream drips.
Real Women’s Way
Just suck the ice cream out of the bottom of the cone, for God’s sake. You are probably lying on the couch with your feet up eating it anyway.

Good Housekeeping Way #2
To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.
Real Women’s Way
Buy Smash mashed potato mix and keep it in the pantry for up to a year.

Good Housekeeping Way #3
When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking tin, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead and there won’t be any white mess on the outside of the cake.
Real Women’s Way
The Cheese Cake Shop sell cakes. They even do decorated versions.

Good Housekeeping Way #4
If you accidentally over-salt a dish while it’s still cooking, drop in a potato slice.
Real Women’s Way
If you over salt a dish while you are cooking, that’s tough, Please recite with me the Real Women’s motto: “I made it and you will eat it and I don’t care how bad it tastes.”

Good Housekeeping Way #5
Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.
Real Women’s Way
It could keep forever. I don’t eat it.

Good Housekeeping Way #6
Brush some beaten egg white over pie crust before baking to yield beautiful glossy finish.
Real Women’s Way
Sara Lee frozen pie directions do not include brushing any egg whites over the crust so I don’t do that.

The Good Housekeeping Way #7
Cure for headaches: Take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.

The Real Women’s Way
Cure for headaches: Take a lime, cut it in half and drop it in 8 ounces of tequila. Drink the Tequila. You might still have the headache, but at least you will be too drunk to give a hoot!
